So, are your eyes already getting tired from all the reading you're doing for the 24 Hour Read-A-Thon? No? Then you're doing really good, and if they do, let me remind you that breaks are a great thing. You can go outside for 5 minutes, maybe prepare something small to eat, you could even brew some coffee - or better some tea during those five minute breaks! Maybe you're even thinking about a small mini-challenge? Well, then you've come to the right place!
This is my first year joining the 24 Hour Read-A-Thon. In the past I found out about it too late and missed the day, but this year I finally managed it and I even decided to host a mini-challenge.
Remember all those books you read and all the movies you watched? If not, take a moment and think about them. Get up and look at your shelves, look at all the books you got there and enjoy their sight!
Now, what I want you to do for the mini-challenge is to search your memory for books and book series that might also work as a TV series. Which are they, and do you already have some actors in mind for them? (If so, you might even post links to a photo of the actor!)
Now think about the movies or TV series you've watched. Which of them would you read as a book as well? What are they about and what genre would they be?
And finally, think about the books that have already been made into a movie or a TV series. And what about those movies and TV series that were made into a book?
You can just make a list of all the books and movies and series you come up with for all three parts of this challenge.
Five minutes from now, at 11pm my time (Germany) or 2pm PST, the Books to TV cross-over mini challenge will start. It will be open for 4 hours until 3am my time (that's 6pm PST). This means it's for the hours 9 through 13 of the 24 Hour Read-A-Thon.
Now, leave a link to your post in the comment section or post your answers right in the comments, if you don't have a blog!
Once the challenge is over I will put all your names in the randomizer and pick a winner. The prize is a copy of Alexander McCall Smith's The No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency as it has just been made into a TV series! If the winner already has a copy, I agreed with Trish that the winner can pick one of the books from the general prize list.

A lot of my favorite series have been already been made into tv shows or movies...Kathy Reich's Temperance Brennan books-Bones, Jim Buthcher's The Dresden Files, Harry Potter, Twilight.
I am still waiting for the Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich to be made into a show or movie. Those would be fun! No clue about actors but there are some good suggestions on the website for the books.
I think LOST would make a great book series. :)
This is my first year too! :) I will keep thinking of more, but the 1st thing to come to mind is the Gardella Vampire Series by Colleen Gleason! :)
more to follow...
Any of the books from Jean Plaidy in her Queens of England series.
Nancy Drew series and the American Girl series.
My favorite set of books, The Blood Books by Tanya Huff, were already made into a television series filmed in Canada, but unfortunately, vampire/PI series don't get a large following and the show was canceled, even though it had a great angle with an ex-cop turned PI, Vicki Nelson, who left the force because she was going blind, but couldn't stay away from investigations! She is a fantastic heroine...overcoming physical limitations and expanding her horizons by investigating paranormal activities and crimes with her Vampire sidekick, Henry, son of Henry VIII.
As for books I wish were made into television series, that would be the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice--do you see a theme here?! Lestat is a great vampire character, but I think the series for television purposes would have to be told from the POV of the Talamasca, which observes the vampire society and keeps historical records of them. I think it would be great to see an investigative series with the vampires and these historians...now that would be a new take on the vampire myths.
For a movie/tv that should be made into a book, I would suggest Fringe, with its edge of science qualities, the FBI, and the wacky scientist! I really love the "fringe" science of this show and how it plays into some of the crimes that the FBI investigates. I think it would make a great book.

The book I'm reading right now, Boyology, would be great as a movie. It would help a lot of clueless young girls, too!
I had seen Breakfast at Tiffany's and I just today read the book. It was as good as the movie.
I rarely like the movies that have been made from books. A few exceptions like To Kill a Mockingbird....
There are lots of really good books, especially teen books that I think would make really awful movies. Some stories are great to read, but would look really fake.
THe Gardians of Ga'hoole would make a very good childrens cartoon.
