This week was eventful for my mailbox.
For three of the books I can blame university. They're all for a class on "What happened to the American Dream? Pastoral in Literature and Fiction":
1) Karen Tei Yamashita: Tropic Of Orange
2) Cormac McCarthy: The Road
3) Philip Roth: American Pastoral
Then, I am incredibly grateful to Francesca. I won a book from her and it arrived in the mail:
4) Lernkrimi Italienisch: Dottor Bianchis letzter Wille (Dottor Bianchi's Last Will)
This is a language learning mystery with exercises in each chapter. Thank you so much, Francesca!
Also, I had a book from a Virtual Bookcrossing Book Box in the mail:
5) Paul Robertson: Road To Nowhere
And the last book I got for me, and just for me LOL:
6) Oscar Wilde: An Ideal Husband

Very interesting books. I haven't read any of them.
Julie, I also think they're interesting. Before I got the books I only knew of two of the books. I heard of Oscar Wilde's An Ideal Husband and just had to get it. And the book Francesca sent me is one I knew but somehow I never got around to buying it. And now I don't have to anymore :-)

The Tropic of Orange looks intriguing to me and I love the cover for An Ideal Husband (I also like Oscar Wilde and this particular book as well ::grin::). Enjoy your reading.

Kristen, I also love the cover of An Ideal Husband. I could have gotten a different copy for a few cents less, but in the end I didn't want to save those few cents for an uglier cover ;-) As for Tropic Of Orange, I'll be curious to read it. I never even heard about the author!
Kristi, it sure is. But then, half the books are for university and I doubt they want us to read fluff :-) At least Oscar Wilde always is good for a laugh, that's why I had to get this book on top of the others.

The Road was one of my favorite reads a year or so ago. I read it before I blogged, so I don't have my review handy. :(

Francesca: I'm absolutely happy about the book! It is indeed a great choice and I can't wait to read it - I have to read the books for my classes first, though *sigh*
I love Oscar Wilde! I remember reading An Ideal Husband on a train in NYC, going back and forth between my friend's house and the city, before he moved into the city. Love the most recent film version of it as well.
